Topic: Best WP plugins| No Comments »

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed by email or in a reader. Thanks for visiting!

This post is part of a series of posts about Best WordPress Plugins I am using.
Here are the previous posts in this series:
1. RSS : A selection of the best WordPress Plugins
2. Best WordPress Plugins - Part II : Comments

Now this post will be about general WP plugins. After RSS and Comments, I will today feature some useful WP plugins that you can easily add to your blogs. Off course, this is a selection of my favourite ones that I use on this very blog :

AdSense Deluxe :
This plugin allows you to place Google AdSense ads in your WordPress Posts. At the very beginning of this blog, I wanted to embed Google ads in my posts and had no idea how I would do it. I did some researches and found this Plugin that helped me a lot. It is also very easy to use, and you only have to add a very short line to your post, every time you want to include you previously created ad.

Widgetize Anything :
Imagine for a moment if you could put anything you want in your blog as a widget that you can easily drag-and-drop in your WP admin. Well, this is where this great plugin comes in. I love this plugin. What it does is let you place PHP code as a widget. This means that you can place dynamic content (that’s right) anywhere on your blog with an arrogant ease. How cool is that. I think that this plugin changed a lot in the way bloggers manage the content they offer for their readers. I highly recommend it.

WP Footnotes :
Ever wanted to add footnotes to a post and avoid those annoying parenthesis to mention a source, explain something without having to do it in the post? Now it’s possible. You will be able to do something like this((i)). To obtain this, you just need to put your footnote between double parenthesis when writing the post, at the desired location, and that’s it. Easy, fun and classy.

I will not make this post longer than it already is. I hope you liked this post and enjoyed the series. Most probably this will be the last post of th series, but maybe not. I have other plugins sitting there and ready to be talked about, so maybe I’d select some few more for a future post. In the meanwhile, please feel free to tell me what you thought about these plugins, and to share some other ones you use with the readers of this blog. If anyone would like to write something for this blog about other blogging platforms goodies, just drop me an email through the contact form.

If you made it this far, thank you. And don’t forget that if you have ECs to spare, I am looking for 1000 ECs, and accepting offers. Also I am starting a new thing on this blog : With every new post there will be a great tip about ways to make money online and blogging. The only thing is that it will only be visible to RSS subscribers. It’s a way of rewarding my loyal readers. If you would like to have access to those great tips, just sign up below :

Best WordPress Plugins - Part II : Comments

Topic: Best WP plugins| 2 Comments »

This post is part of a series of posts about Best WordPress Plugins I am using.
Here are the previous posts in this series:
1. RSS : A selection of the best WordPress Plugins

After the first post about some interesting plugins that help you manage and increase your RSS subscriptions, I am back with a list of WP plugins I use for comments.

Comments are a very important part of blogging, since they guarantee the interaction between the blogger and the audience. An interaction that is the core of what blogging is all about. So, with no more delay, let’s get this going.

CommentLuv
This plugin has spread quickly on the blogosphere. It allows commenter on blogs who use this plugin to show their last post’s title at the end of the comment. This is a very useful plugin because it encourages more comments on your blog from your fellow bloggers. No one can say no to a link love.

Most Commented Posts Widget
This plugin adds a sidebar widget to display your most commented posts. Very useful if you want to show your readers the hottest topics discussed on your blog. These are the posts that are more likely to attract comments. Showing them will most probably lead to an increase in the number of comments you receive.

Show Top Commentators

Encourage more feedback and discussion from readers, by rewarding them every time they post a comment! Readers with the most comments are displayed on your Wordpress blog, with their names (linked to their website if they provided one)((i)).

You can also adjust the time span, so you can show the top commentators of the week, the  month, etc.
Subscribe To Comments
Notify readers of new comments that are posted to an entry, by adding a checkbox after the comment form. This helps your users in following the discussions that interest them and will most likely mean more comments. Remember : people comment on subjects that interest them. And who would subscribe to a subject he’s not interested in?

I hope these plugins can be helpful for you. Next post in the series will present general use plugins that gives a better blogging experience for readers on your blog.  So stay tuned for it. You can subscribe to my RSS feed to be sure not to miss it.

Do you use any of these plugins? Do you use others that can be useful for increasing comments? Feel free to share.

RSS : A selection of the best WordPress Plugins

Topic: Best WP plugins| 3 Comments »

What is very cool about WordPress is that you can easily add very useful tools to your blog using plugins. The community of WP users being very big, new plugins are released every day. I wouldn’t be able to list all of them in a single post, but I will try and list a selection of the best WordPress Plugins I use on my blog, in a series of posts. Today, I’ll list a number of plugins that are very uselful to increase RSS subscriptions :

Notify Unconfirmed Subscribers :
This is a very useful plugin for Feedburner users. It goes into your FB account and sends a friendly email to the unconfirmed email subscribers. In fact, a lot of readers would start the subscription process by entering their email adress but they never confirm by clicking on the link of the confirmation email. With this plugin, it’s easy to send them a friendly email and increase the conversion rate of email subscribers.

What Would Seth Godin Do (WWSGD) :
This plugin allows you to place a reminder for your NEW readers, on the top or in the bottom of a post. You can set the number of times the message appears so it’s not intrusive. Very useful and very easy plugin. If you are new here you can see it in action on the top of this post, and you can use it to subscribe to my RSS feed now.  :)

FeedBurner FeedSmith
:
If you are not a Feedburner user and would like to start using it (which I recommend, I think it’s the best tool for RSS management), without losing your current RSS subscriptions, then this plugin is for you.
This plugin makes it easy to redirect 100% of traffic for your feeds to a FeedBurner feed you have created. FeedBurner can then track all of your feed subscriber traffic and usage and apply a variety of features you choose to improve and enhance your original WordPress feed.((i)).

In order to install those useful plugins, click on the one you want in order to download it, unzip the file and upload it under your “/wp-content/plugins” directory.((ii)). Then go to you WP admin, Plugins tab, and activate the plugin. Congratulations! It’s done. All you have to do now is go to Options, or Dashboard (Depending on the plugin), to adjust settings and configure your messages, etc.

I hope these plugins can be helpful for you. Next post in the series will present plugins that deal with the comments on your blog.  So stay tuned for it. You can subscribe to my RSS feed to be sure not to miss it.

Do you use any of these plugins? Do you use others that can be useful for RSS subscriptions? Feel free to share.
